MIDNIGHT MADNESS 2009
PDF Print E-mail
Midnight Madness is the biggest summer hoops event in the UK.  Quite unlike anything that came before it and anything that's been attempted since, MM is a nationwide basketball competition with a difference.  They provide unparallelled balling opportunities for British players, delivering the type of exposure, platform, support and playing experiences not otherwise available in the UK.  Through their events and programs, they’re committed to positively impacting young people through the game of basketball and widening their horizons so they aspire to reach higher in their lives both on and off the court.

The program was originally created in 1999 to help combat gun crime in Harlesden, North West London, using a series of basketball 'open runs' through the night as a positive diversionary activity for young people.  Thanks to the support of the many thousands of ballers and spectators over the years, MM engages more people than any other summer basketball program in Europe, with over 5,000 players competing in the MM national series of events - watched by over 15,000 live spectators and a tv/digital audience in excess of 1.5M in the UK alone.

Midnight Madness is run by Reach & Teach, a non-profit community development organisation who focus on using basketball as a tool to engender positive social, academic, physical and vocational development in young people, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Finals Night events have earned a reputation across the UK as the most exciting event on the UK summer basketball calendar due in part to the hotly contested climax to the Midnight Madness competition, but also because of the trend setting entertainment package we deliver each year.  The 'Slam Dunk' competitions are legendary and push the boundaries each year on creativity and excitement while the blend of dance acts and music/entertainment take the whole showcase to a level unseen anywhere else in Britain.  Players who make it through to Finals Night get to play in front of thousands of excited spectators on the night, with an even bigger audience catching the action via TV and DVD post-event.  As a Finals Night competitor you'll get to be the 'star' of the biggest 'homegrown' basketball show in the UK.

About Us

The sole purpose of Student Bodiez is to provide a true voice for students and young people. As universities and colleges are institutes that are solely focused on educational attainment and individual progression into the world of careers, education can become daunting and challenging. The opportunity to create an avenue of interaction and a channel of self exposure for students cannot exactly be claimed as a ground breaking idea but rather a perquisite which for many years has been ignored.
